SUMMARY:#WelcomingWeek Kairos Blanket Exercise
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Friday\, September 15\, 1 – 3:30 pm at Integrated Health Centre for an interactive session to experience the Kairos Blanket Exercise\, a teaching tool that shares the historic and contemporary relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada. If you are interested in the session\, we do ask that you commit to the entire two and a half-hour window. \nWe encourage all newcomers to Lanark and Renfrew Counties to participate in this free event. There are limited spaces available\, so please only register if you know you can attend. \nNo experience necessary. All materials provided. \nIntegrate Health Centre is located at 570 Nelson Street\, Pembroke\, Ontario\, K8A 7W7. \nThis activity is part of #WelcomingWeek\, an annual opportunity to recognize and celebrate the people\, places and values that help everyone feel welcome and give them a sense of belonging in their local community\, no matter where they come from\, and is in partnership with Integrate Health Centre and the Circle of Turtle Lodge. \nThis session speaks to the following Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action: \n\n14. We call upon the federal government to enact an Aboriginal Languages Act that incorporates the following principles: iv. The preservation\, revitalization\, and strengthening of Aboriginal languages and cultures are best managed by Aboriginal people and communities.\n63. We call upon the Council of Ministers of Education\, Canada to maintain an annual commitment to Aboriginal education issues\, including: iii.
