Join us for this guided yet relaxed adventure into stories (memoir and fiction) of crossing cultures. Books about leaving and arriving, about being deeply within a culture and on the periphery, about feeling at home and in-between. Participants in the Same Theme, Different Book Club Program can choose from the proposed book list (or choose their own within the theme) with the support of participating libraries.

Below is a list of suggested books to consider. Your local libraries are an exceptional resource for finding one of the books listed below or recommending some titles you may not have considered before!

  • We Were Dreamers: An Immigrant Superhero Origin Story – Simu Liu
  • I’ve Been Meaning to Tell You by David Chariandy
  • Inheritance by Dani Shapiro
  • Lost in Translation by Eva Hoffman
  • Five Little Indians by Michelle Good
  • RU by Kim Thuy
  • Becoming Eve by Abby Chava Stein

On Wednesday, June 15, at 6 p.m., we will discuss the books read. This session is intended for adults.

Contact Sarah to register at 613-687-2227 ext 2205, outreach@petawawapubliclibrary.ca.
