Free Training Programs for New Employees

Newcomer Welcome Centre

The Newcomer Welcome Centre in Ottawa always offers free online webinars and sessions for newcomers to Canada. Past events include citizenship test preparation workshops in various languages, financial advice presentations, and more. These events are free and open to all.

Coursera  

You can search Coursera’s 4000+ collection of courses and online certificates. Most are free with the option to pay for an actual certificate upon completion. There are many workplace-related courses like a digital marketing certificate by google.  

LinkedIn Learning 

Your organization may already have a subscription to LinkedIn Learning. There is a free one-month trial offered, but then there is a monthly subscription charge. Having access to LinkedIn Learning opens a multitude of free online courses for employees on numerous topics by industry professionals.  

Local Service Providers 

Follow your local governmental and non-commercial service providers’ social media pages, as many often host free classes, seminars, webinars, workshops and more that can provide useful information to new employees. Libraries are a great example of community organizations that often offer free training opportunities.
