Legal Aid and Community Clinics: Community legal clinics (CLCs) can give you free or low-cost legal information, advice and representation. Legal Aid provides access to legal services for people who have low incomes. To apply for a Legal Aid certificate, you must first contact a Legal Aid Ontario (LAO) Office in your area.

Finding the right lawyer for your purpose is very important. It is important to know what types of fees you may have to pay a lawyer. When you go see a lawyer, you should ask for an estimate of what the work will cost. Find a lawyer near you.

Immigration Support: If you are looking to apply for permanent residency in Canada and wish for some support with the immigration process. You can have someone represent you or help you with your immigration application but please note that Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) does not require you to use an immigration consultant or lawyer.

Police: In Canada, the police are separate from government and from the military. In Ontario, police services must include crime prevention, law enforcement, assistance to victims of crime, public order maintenance, and emergency response. If you have an emergency, call 9-1-1. If it is not an emergency, use the police non-emergency phone number. If you are charged with a crime in Canada, and you are not a Canadian citizen, what the court decides may affect your immigration status.
