Learning about your local area’s history and culture is a great way to feel connected with your community. Taking the opportunity to: visit a museum or historical site, take part in traditional cultural experiences, try local foods, or listen to local musicians – are just some of the many ways you can feel more connected with your community.
Museums and historical sites provide a sense of community while celebrating a collective heritage and providing a space to explore the history of a specific area. Museums collect, display and preserve objects or materials of religious, artistic, cultural and historical value for the study and education of the public. Museum exhibits or historical sites tell stories about how a community or culture came to be – without them, local stories or history could be forgotten.
