Taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health. Everyone needs support throughout life, especially when undergoing massive life changes. There are still many stigmas surrounding getting help with your mental health, but the conversation in Canada is changing. Accessible and affordable resources exist, and reaching out is important if you or your loved ones are struggling. You can also speak about your mental health with your family physician or doctor. Post-partum depression is a common experience that affects new moms during what can be a strenuous adjustment period. There is no shame in reaching out for help. Speak with your doctor about any feelings you may be having.
If you, or someone you know are having thoughts of suicide or causing self-harm, call 911 or visit your nearest Emergency Department. Hold onto Hope. There is always help.
